About

Prevention of injury is what this blog is about.

In 2002, unintentional injuries were the leading cause of death for people ages 1 to 44 years and the fifth leading cause of death overall. More than 106,000 people died from unintentional injuries in 2002, but injury deaths does not describe the full problem. In 2003, more than 27 million American people had a nonfatal, unintentional injury that was serious enough to require a visit to the emergency room.

Millions of Americans experience nonfatal injuries each year; such injuries have a severe impact on  individual Americans, their families, and society. The physical and emotional damages of injuries can be wide-ranging, and with disabling injuries, effects can last throughout life.
